Customer photo review of Exotics Max Driver

Today was my first full round testing my custom Tour Edge Exotics MAX “Thriver” build, and this experiment really started because of my experience playing a mini driver. I’ve been using a 14° mini driver as an alternative to driver, and I’ve really come to appreciate what a shorter tee club can do. For me, the mini has generally been much easier to control than a traditional-length driver. I feel more comfortable over the ball, my dispersion is better, and I can make an aggressive swing without feeling like I have to steer it. The problem is that there is still a noticeable distance gap between my mini driver and my full-size driver. I know Tour Edge already makes a mini driver, and I actually considered going that direction. But I specifically wanted something with more forgiveness and a larger head. I don’t really need this club to be versatile or something I can hit off the deck. Its job is to be a weapon exclusively off the tee. That made me wonder: instead of going to another smaller mini-driver head, why not take the shorter-shaft concept I already knew worked for me and pair it with the stability and forgiveness of a full-size 460cc driver? That’s where the Exotics MAX came in. The idea behind the build was pretty simple: take the forgiveness and stability of a full-size, high-MOI driver head, shorten it to the same 43.75-inch length I was already comfortable playing in my mini driver, pair it with a heavier Ventus 7X shaft, and add loft. Essentially, I wanted to build a modern version of the old-school “thriver.” The goal wasn’t maximum distance. I already have a driver for that. I wanted a club I could confidently hit around 275–285 yards while significantly tightening my dispersion. If I could get most of the distance of my driver with something approaching the confidence and control of my mini, that would be an extremely useful golf club. I started today’s round with the Exotics MAX set at 12°, and the front nine honestly wasn’t what I was hoping for. The ball appeared to be launching too high and spinning too much. I wasn’t getting the stronger, penetrating flight I wanted, and the distance reflected it. My five thriver tee shots on the front nine went: 269, 219, 257, 246 and 207 yards That’s an average of approximately 240 yards. There were obviously some poor strikes mixed into those numbers, so I’m not suggesting that the loft setting alone caused the distance loss. But visually, the ball looked like it had too much spin and wasn’t getting through the air efficiently. At the turn, I decided to make one change. I lowered the head from 12° to 11°. The difference was immediate. The club basically became point-and-shoot. The flight looked much stronger, and suddenly I felt like I could simply pick my starting line and make a committed swing. For almost the entire back nine, the ball started where I was aiming and stayed there. My only real directional miss came on 18 when I pulled one left. My six thriver tee shots at 11° went: 279, 279, 278, 309, 311 and 275 yards That’s an average of 288.5 yards. Obviously, I’m not going to claim that removing one degree of loft magically added almost 50 yards. It’s a small sample, and strike quality, wind, landing conditions and individual holes all played a role. But the difference in ball flight and overall performance was pretty dramatic. What impressed me most wasn’t even the 309- and 311-yard shots. It was seeing 279, 279 and 278 while feeling like I was basically hitting the ball exactly where I was looking. That’s exactly what I wanted when I came up with this build. The original goal was a 275–285-yard fairway finder that gave me the confidence of my mini driver but retained the forgiveness and speed potential of a full-size driver head. On the back nine, it actually averaged almost 289 yards, produced a couple of 300+ yard shots, and gave me considerably more confidence over the ball than I normally have with driver. It’s only one round, so I’m definitely not declaring the experiment finished. I’m going to leave it at 11° and collect more on-course and launch-monitor data before making any final conclusions. But after one round, my takeaway is pretty straightforward: At 12°, it looked too spinny. At 11°, the entire build came alive. And it raises another question: maybe Tour Edge should actually make this club. Again, I know Tour Edge already offers a mini driver, and that absolutely has a place. I considered buying one myself. But I think there’s room for a slightly different concept aimed at the golfer who likes the shorter length and control of a mini driver but wants more MOI, more face area and the additional forgiveness of a full-size head. Instead of shrinking the head, Tour Edge could offer a high-MOI 460cc head at roughly 11–12°, with a heavier shaft, appropriate head weighting and a stock length around 43.5–44 inches. Basically, a factory-built thriver designed specifically as a control club off the tee. For someone like me who has no real interest in hitting a mini driver off the deck, I think the concept makes a ton of sense. Give me the shorter shaft that makes the mini so comfortable, but put a big forgiving head on the end of it and let me swing away. My experience with a mini driver is ultimately what convinced me that shorter can be better for my game. This experiment was about finding out whether I could take that philosophy and remove some of the compromises that come with the smaller head. After today’s back nine, it looks like that idea might actually work. If the thriver performs anything like this again in my next round, the question might not be whether it replaces my mini driver. The question might be how often I actually need to pull driver

I’ve had the driver for about three weeks now. Last Sunday I only missed one fairway. What an amazing driver. The forgiveness is amazing. Also, you don’t have to give up any distance to get the forgiveness. I’ve tried the New Taylormade, Callaway, and Pxg drivers None compared to the tour edge exotics max

53 years old and getting back into golf after not playing much for the last fifteen years. I took my new Tour Edge Exotics Max to the range the other night. After warming up with mid irons, this was my first swing with the driver. Yes, I know my backswing is too long, I’m going to focus on fixing that this fall. I really like this driver so far!

I love this driver! New to golf and this is my first upgrade to driver. Mishits are much less painful and swinging this club is super smooth. I'm so glad I bought it. Thanks Tour Edge

After playing the same driver for the last 15 years, I finally pulled the trigger on the Tour Edge Exotics Max Driver (9°)—and I couldn't be happier with the decision. Back in February, I was fitted by a Tour Edge professional, and I highly recommend taking that step. At 54 years old with a 12-handicap and a swing speed averaging around 105 mph, I wanted an upgrade that would truly complement my game as I continue working to improve. My big issue was that my ball was ballooning into the air, and I desperately needed to get my spin rate down. To put it in perspective, I had my previous club dialed all the way down to 7° and I still was hitting the ball incredibly high with a high spin rate. The fitting process was invaluable for sorting this out. We matched the head with the Fujikura Ventus Blue/Black in an S-Flex (Stiff) shaft. Interestingly, I didn't even need to go to the lower-spinning LS version of this club; the Exotics Max dialed things in perfectly. The investment has paid off immediately, and I really feel like I got fantastic value. My spin rate is now right in a good, optimal range, and I'm not hitting the ball near as high. Even at 9°, the launch and spin are totally controlled. The forgiveness on this club is absolutely amazing. While you still have to put a solid swing on the ball, the control I get on good passes is exceptional. It is a night-and-day difference from my 15-year-old club. If you're struggling with ballooning shots and high spin, get fitted for one of these—it’s worth every penny.

Don't laugh at my swing, getting back to golf after 15 years due to back surgery. Love the look of the club, value is outstanding, so glad I chose Tour Edge. One cock up though is I was drunk when I ordered them and requested the wrong shaft 🥴 is there anyway I can just order a shaft for the max driver?🤞

Customer photo review of Exotics Max Driver

Overall it really is a fantastic driver. Very forgiving and more distance than I was expecting on course. That's exactly what I want from a driver and this delivers. It wasn't the longest driver in my fitting, but close to it. By far the most consistent driver for me. The only place where it's lacking is sound. It's a bad sounding driver. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Delivered quickly, faster than I expected. The driver came well packed and exactly how I customized the club. Only hit it a couple of rounds and I am extremely pleased with its performance. Anxious to play it throughout the season and hope my score reflects my review. I have no doubt it will.

Tour Edge Max Ventus Blue Regular shaft. I was able to get out yesterday and play. What a driver is all I have to say very forgiving very long. It added 25-40 yards more to my drives. It feels great and sounds amazing. My playing partners couldn't get over how nice it sounded and how the ball exploded off the club face. They said it has some serious pop as I was out driving them and that never has happened before. If you are thinking about getting this driver don't hesitate just get it. Amazing product!

Customer photo review of Exotics Max Driver

This driver is a nice improvement over my previous one. I purchased the light senior (black/white) shaft which seems a bit too flexible. It is very forgiving with a slow gentle swing but not so good with a faster swing. I would recommend trying the standard graphite shaft for more control. Here’s a photo of my hole in one made with this club while using a gentle 3/4 swing.

Exotics Max Driver

Finally had a chance to try out this driver over the weekend. Great club, good distance and great sound on impact. Very forgiving driver.

Exotics Max Driver

My last driver was very forgiving . Was looking for forgiveness with a little added distance. Got both and more. Consistent off the tee and plenty long. Can't ask for much more.

Exotics Max Driver

I dont like writing reviews! Love the club and the technology boost it gave me!

Exotics Max Driver

Your product is as good as any on the market and your service is better. Just ordered a 3 wood preowned. Your discount for Veterans is the best in the business, thanks from a very grateful vet. Jim mitchell

Exotics Max Driver

Nice driver for the valve does add distance from my old driver

Exotics Max Driver

Driver is a great addition to my Tour Edge family of clubs.

Exotics Max Driver

For me good distance and good accuracy.

Exotics Max Driver

So far so good with the new driver. I'm able to hit my drives straighter and with more distance.

Exotics Max Driver

I have already played two rounds with the new driver and when I swing properly it has added between 10-20 yards on my drives. I am very pleased with the results.

Exotics Max Driver

Couldn’t be more pleased with the performance and quality of the Exotics Max Driver. Hot way more fairways and misses were still in play. Highly recommend.

Exotics Max Driver

I replaced my E725 with the new Exotics Max. I have only played one round with it but initial thoughts are very positive. I’m a shorter player and play it at a shorter length. I’ve order a heavier rear weight to adjust for the shortened length. I’m extremely happy so far with the performance and sound. Tour Edge build very high quality golf equipment. The price is really unmatched for the quality you get. Hopefully Tour Edge continues to keep their prices down and not overinflated like the big brands.

Exotics Max Driver

I purchased the TE 400 senior set but but did not use the driver that often as the driver has always been my nemesis. I read a review on the exotic max and thought maybe I should upgrade and maybe that would help my driving. I know some people say clubs don’t make a difference, but in my case, it has truly made a difference!!! I’m 62 years old in my average drive with the exotic max is 220. That’s far for me. And they are straight!! This was money well spent.

Exotics Max Driver

I haven’t bought one yet. Where can I go hit one in a simulator to see if I like it.

Exotics Max Driver

Best bang for your buck in gold!

Exotics Max Driver

Just getting the driver properly setup for me, will know more next week. But my Trade in was sent /82 and according to the tracking # it is still sitting in Romeoville, IL. on 8/19 ????

Exotics Max Driver

I ordered the TE Exotics Max driver without demoing it. The reviews this driver has received from all the major golf outlets had me wanting to try it. Unfortunately the closest pro shop I could demo it at is 2.5 hours away. So I ordered it untested. The looks, feel, and performance is as advertised. If anyone wants a driver with great distance, and wants to stay in the fairway, this is the driver you must have!! Great Job Tour Edge!!

Exotics Max Driver

I am quite impressed with the results.

Exotics Max Driver

Process was great. Not a fan of the sound of the driver and I don’t like the shaft I picked

Exotics Max Driver

A HIGH-QUALITY DRIVER AT A REASONABLE PRICE You have to spend extra time working on the settings, but once you get it excellent. Excellent forgiveness. I set it at 0+. I hit it 10 to 20 yards further than Mini Driver. It has been wet and soft fairways, so ball is not rolling well or further. I have great confidence at the top of my bag with the Exotics Max driver and Mini driver. Some golf courses I use the Exotics Max driver 10 to 11 times, other courses maybe only 4 times because of the Mini driver I will use instead. If the club has excellent performance, I am not a snob and have to use only the big 4 manufacturers. I am going with the excellent performance of Tour Edge. I love my driver set up. Do not use a 3 wood. My longest fairway wood is a 5 wood. Excellent work TOUR EDGE!
