The
Effects of Lie Angle
The
lie angle determination taken earlier in the fitting session
is
used as a starting point. The proper lie angle is ultimately
determined by a combination of variables that include the
player's swing characteristics, skill level, setup, ball
position and clubhead speed. The most effective method of
determining how these
variables
relate to the club's lie angle is by analyzing the impact
point on the sole of the club after each shot.
This
club is too upright, causing
the ball flight to be left of the
target. To fit the golfer properly, the lie angle
should be flattened, thus lowering the toe at impact.
This
club is too flat, causing the
ball flight to be right of the target.
To fit the golfer properly, the lie angle should be more
upright, thus raising the toe at impact.
This
club is has the proper lie
angle, thus producing the straightest
ball flight possible.
