The
Effects of Shaft Length
The
static measurement taken at the beginning of the fitting
session is used as a starting point. Proper club length
is ultimately determined by a combination of variables that
include the player's swing characteristics, skill level,
setup, ball position and clubhead
speed. The most effective method of determining how these
variables relate to the club's length is by analyzing the
impact point and ball flight of each shot.
If
the point of impact is consistently towards the toe of the
clubhead, this is an indication that the
shaft is too short for the player. A longer shaft
will move the impact point towards the center of the face
without requiring a major swing adjustment from the player.
If
the point of impact is consistently towards the heel of
the clubhead, this is an indication that the
shaft is too long for the player. A shorter shaft
will move the impact point towards the center of the face
without requiring a major swing adjustment from the player.
